As much as I understand the humor in this one (since Mom and I were there she tells me) I still have to say the weirdest thing Mom and Dad ever brought home was that big box of underwear from the dump.Zellers was getting rid of extra stock and they were at the dump the same time as Mom and Dad so they filled a huge box worth. Then they gave them to all the guys in the family.Talk about weirdos. I remember that! That was weird!

I feel terrible now for telling Dan a certain story once, it was like this:
Me: "Dan, when I was a teenager and worked for the City, it was so amazing, we use to go to the dump every day, it was SO FRIGIN AWESOME! And so creepy, like we'd be driving along (there to drop off bags of weeds and leaves) and we'd have the windows rolled up tight, because the hot summer sun was making garbage juice evaporate into our faces when the wind blew. There were broken toys and doll limbs poking out of the sludge, and seagulls were as big as cats- pregnant cats. There was a guy named Milton who was at the top of the garbage heap, keeping tabs on which trucks were dumping what; this was his job, I'm sure he made about $70,000/year standing in garbage all day (you can't just shower that smell away, either). He was very aggressive and was probably ripped under his bright orange/brown coveralls.... He had a crush on one of the girls on my crew named Michelle, and every Friday he would come up to our truck, we were forced to roll down the window at this point, and he would hand her something 'really great' that he had found during the week. These items included, but were not limited to: -a big teddy bear -a dozen roses -a box full of makeup ("It's brand new!!") .....90's Wet and Wild brand makeup -various malodorous dolls -white tube socks
and on the most terrifying day, he handed her several pairs of microfibre, beige UNDERWEAR, garbage underwear! We screamed so loud as soon as we drove away!! Can you believe that story, Dan??"
Dan: (thinking about this incident of parents & underwear & landfill...that i didn't know about! awww!) "Yeah...really wierd..."

Holy crap! Was it like a common thing when you were growing up that your parents would bring home boxes of stuff other people threw away?

Holy crap! Was it like a common thing when you were growing up that your parents would bring home boxes of stuff other people threw away? Absolutely not. They did it one time. (hence, why it was weird)

We used to go to the dump in Memeramcook every second or third month to forage through the garbage.
