The only anime worth watching in my opinion. Season II is singlehandedly one of the BEST cartoon seasons ever to be shown on television.

I will not argue with you. I watched the first 2 seasons of StarBlazers and the first Yamato movie and this stuff is top-notch. I have a bootleg box set of all 79 episodes of Uncut Japanese Yamato with english subtitles. It is on my list of stuff to watch this year (I got the box in 2005 )

A fine show. If we're talking best show ever to be shown in North America you could have an argument for best show ever on TV.
Georgio, what would be close? Robotech would be better IMO. Gatchaman also, but I've never seen the unedited ones so Starblazers might be better than that.
Oops, gotta run, will have more on this later!

I can still remember watching Star Blazers on ABC at supper time in 1978 and it litterally blew my fucking mind... And just when I thought nothing could be better than the fight against the Gamilons in Season I, watching them trying to stop the Comet Empire against all odds in Season II was simply mind numbing... Sweet memories...

I obviously love Robotech the most. But Yamato was the first real serialized anime to come out back in 1974. No filler episodes just pure story.
Mike feels the same way about Starblazers as we do about Robotech, because it was the first time we ever saw anything that fucking awesome

Mike,
Since I have watched the first 2 seasons of Starblazers and acknowledged it's awesomeness, you should watch the first season of Robotech (Macross) it is great!

Mike, Since I have watched the first 2 seasons of Starblazers and acknowledged it's awesomeness, you should watch the first season of Robotech (Macross) it is great! Macross is possibly the greatest anime ever. It's the Star Wars of the genre. So much character development integrated into one of the most interesting and emotional stories ever. I describe it the same way I do the new Battlestar Galactica series: It's a fantastic story with riveting characters that just happens to be in space (except with Macross, it's in space with kick ass transforming robots). Macross is just a shining example of something being done right. Roy Fokker, The Friggin' Man

New Yamato anime coming out.
I watched the first episode last night on-line, but it is in Japanese so a bit hard to understand, but nonetheless, still awesome!!!
Hopefully, this gets licensed here. Five 45 minute eps = badass!

Albator is up there for me, but not more than Robotech which I would say is my number 1, Tough comparisons, all of them are so well executed. I grew up on the French version of Harlock, and it is amazing. On that note, they sell Harlock DVD's at the Dollarama now... weird..
