Been listening to Daft Punk's latest album, TR0N: Legacy! It's amazing. It's instrumental of course and also completely techno (which I hate but this as an exception). This is prob the first movie score I've actually listened to as music since Lord of the Rings.
I was super stoked to find this video of one of my all time favorite songs: "Automan" by the Young Canadians. I saw the video like 1 time in the early 90s on MuchMusic during some special about punk rock and hadn't seen it again until this week. I've had the album forever but the image of Art Bergman against the blue background has been in my head since like 1992 even though I hadn't seen it since then!
Quick Beastie Boys Fact: The original title for License to Ill was "Don't Be a Faggot"
Another fact: Before they were "famous" they used to do punk music. They released an album of all their old punk songs called "Some Old Bullshit".
Some Old Bullshit is a collection of several early Beastie Boys EPs, recorded in the early '80s. These recordings present a sound radically different from that of the hip-hop sound generally associated with the band. Instead, these songs represent the band's part in the early New York hardcore scene.
Forget all the Sweet Caroline stuff, this is what it's all about right here. Clap along with Neil in the new collection of his early awesome "I also write songs for the Monkees in my spare time" era tunes. Kentucky women welcome!
