So, on my desk at this exact moment is fact a copy of the long awaited Robotech: The Shadow Chronicles!
I'm very excited and also nervous about how this is gonna turn out. Every time something like this gets revisited you always have the fear in the back of your head it's all gonna get mucked up.
I guess my main hopes are that the story spends more time with the characters we know and love (Scott Bernard, Rick Hunter etc...) and not so much on new characters I could care less about. All the promotional materials seem to feature Scott and Marlene which is awesome, but the trailer had like next to none. I haven't been following the development too close so I could just see it for myself so I guess tonight's the big night.
I really do hope it's good. I know practically everyone on the board is a fan so I'd imagine you're all probably in the same boat.
They wanted to make a new Robotech sequel called the Sentinels, however they couldn't get the rights to the original designs for a buncha characters so everyone looked uh...different and not for the better.
The "Sentinels" themselves were beyond the valley of lame. You would probably shit yourself if you saw the stupid bear aliens
Then they only made 3 inconclusive episodes as a pilot no one picked up. So then they took the intended story and made novels out of them which were pretty good but only read by a tiny % of the people who saw Robotech.
So instead of going back to that they made this new one they pretty much just decided to start clean seeing as no one is gonna know who the Sentinels are anyway.
I don't think it's a big thing. Georgio? Your thoughts?
