SUGGESTION I can't do this now, but maybe in a few months when I am back up and working we should have a Private Scotch Festival. Everybody brings a bottle or two (we can figure that out later) and everyone tries everything with the end result being us all getting hammered.
I hear you. My official last day today. We'll execute this plan sometime when all are employed, and phreadd in available.

I've seen Maker's Mark in the store, and have been tempted to give it a try. I think it's around $40 a bottle, if I'm not mistaken. My problem is, that I've been testing more expensive whiskies and liking them.

What Ian and I were talking about was setting some dollar value of scotch what each person would be required to bring. When we thought there would only be like 3 of us we thought it's be like $160ish dollars, now that there seems to be more interest than I expected, I think we could probably drop that to like $80 or something. Even at that, the $160 was based on the idea of somebody bringing say a bottle of Johnny Walker Blue, then someone else bringing two 80 dollar bottles etc...
$160 to $80 probably sounds like a lot but that's sort of the point. There's no point having a scotch night with a room full of $40 scotch (Johnny Red & Black, J&B etc...) everybody is already familiar with.
In a nutshell, let's say we decide on $160...the shots would be distributed equally and the each person gets to bring home whatever is left of what they brought (so if one scotch is super popular, it doesn't get all drank and the person who bought it has to go home empty-handed while everyone else has a ton of scotch to bring home). Julia said she'd volunteer to keep track 'cause she won't be drinking that scotch action!
I'm open to suggestion...if we have like more than 3 or 4 people who want to go, we could make the dollar value $80 and two people could go in on a fancy-ass $160 bottle or somethin'.
Anyhow...just wanted to lay those cards on the table. I think it's an awesome idea and it's not like you're buying an expensive bottle of something and leaving it somewhere! Everyone will spend equal money, drink equal portions and go home with their equal share of the leftovers.
