Well, and if you look at the last two games against the Ducks, where they blew late 3rd period leads only to lose the games in OT/SO... you take those 4 points from Anaheim, and add 2 more to the Flames, and they're in...
"It's disturbing when young people believe right-wing political hype. It's like rock n' roll never happened."
If they could have played anywhere near .500 hockey beofre Christmas they would have been in by a mile. Hopefully Dallas can sweep in and steal one of those spots, just to kick Anaheim or Chicago in the nuts.
Still, hopefully they manage to keep this crew together for next year. I wouldn't go messing with the formula too much.
First round series I am most looking forward to is Boston/Montreal on Thursday. Boston is a better, tougher team in my opinion but Montreal won the season series. With all the bad blood it should make for a hell of a start to the playoffs.
Someone commented to me the other day about a piece of NHL trivia.
The Canucks even have history on their side. Montreal hosted the 1976 Summer Olympics. The Canadiens finished the 1976-77 season with the best overall record (60 wins, eight losses, 12 ties for 132 points) and went on to win the Stanley Cup. The 1988 Winter Olympics were in Calgary. The Flames won the Presidents' Trophy in 1988-89 with a 54-17-9 record for 117 points, then won the team's only Stanley Cup. Vancouver hosted the 2010 Winter Olympics. Now the Canucks have won the Presidents' Trophy.
