There's a subtle scent of banana bread--but not enough to be gimmicky. I like my flavour beers to less on-the-nose, so to speak. Anyway, the beer smells good. Let's give it a taste.
It's a really refreshing--summery taste. Really nice. Initially, it has a nice malty crispness, with a bit of pepper snap to it. I immediately wish I was on a patio drinking this guy. You can really starte to taste the banana and brown sugar a lot in the aftertaste, but it sits nice and doesn't linger for too long.
As with most flavoured beers, I am satisfied with just one. It's a little pricey (about 4 bucks a pint) but well worth it. Great alternative way to kickstart some afternoon BBQ drinks than the traditional Belgian White ales that are everywhere as soon as the heat hits.
I'd drink it again, but probably won't be my stand-by fancy drink.
just discovered yesterday a full large cold pint of this rich dark liquid is only 5.25 at Saxbys. downfall you ask?...Saxbys.
Holy shit, it's Ryan.
I like Rickards Dark. It's my favorite of everything they offer. It's a nice beer when I want something good late at night. I don't find I enjoy darker ales unless it's late or I am eating a meal along with it.
Actually...I kind of neglect Dark beers in general. Any good Dark Ales you recommend other than Rick's?
